About

Otilia Mutu

Her story

Otilia Mutu is a qualified Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA), author, podcast host and public speaker. Born in Bucharest and based in the UK for over ten years, she has dedicated her career to supporting Romanian-speaking survivors of domestic abuse.

She is the Initiator and CEO of Lotus Justice & Support Centre CIC, a fully online domestic abuse support organisation serving Romanian-speaking communities across all UK local authorities. Lotus bridges the gap between survivors and the systems designed to protect them, removing language and cultural barriers that so often stand in the way of safety.

As a speaker, Otilia brings lived professional experience and deep subject knowledge to conferences, panels and training events in the UK and Romania. She speaks in Romanian and English.

Her book, Dincolo de frică (Beyond Fear), published in 2025, draws on her professional experience and the stories of survivors to illuminate the realities of domestic abuse in Romanian-speaking communities.

Leadership

Business leadership

I build and run organisations, and I use that experience to support women affected by domestic abuse. For more than 15 years I have managed businesses from the ground up, in the UK and internationally. I have led companies in operational management and staffing, management consultancy, education recruitment and real estate.

That work taught me how to build teams, negotiate contracts, manage budgets, stay compliant and keep an organisation running when things get difficult. In 2026 I brought the same skills to Lotus Justice & Support Centre CIC.
